vegan and Cruelty-free Skin care products
Howdy, friends! Let’s get right into this.
My skin and I have had our ups and downs. Through diet changes, climate changes, and routine changes we have been through the ringer together! I always have been passionate about using mostly vegan and cruelty-free products on my skin and guess what, they also happened to be the products that helped my skin the most! I have combination skin but I am prone to breakouts (especially around THAT time of the month and when I travel) and I try to minimize them the best I can!
I am not one to put on make-up everyday and when I do I put on a little coverage, mascara, tint my brows and I’m out the door. That being said, I need to my skin to look fresh and healthy WITHOUT the help of complex contouring and concealers. Over the years, I have tried so many products and so many different skin-care routines.
I know it can be hard to research cruelty-free and vegan products because some companies aren’t transparent or some of their products aren’t and some are. It can get confusing! Luckily, I did all the hard work and research for you! This list is an accumulation of my all time FAVORITE products for you to try and fall in love with!
P.S. These would also all make great stocking stuffers or gifts for those picky spouses, siblings, or friends that are still on your TO-DO christmas shopping list.
Enjoy my list of Vegan & Cruelty-Free Skin Care Products!
Aztec Healing Clay Mask - I love this face mask. It’s natural and simple and gets the job done. As it dries you will feel a pulling and tightening sensation so you know that it is deep pore cleansing! After I leave this on my face for 10 minutes, my skin starts to feel bouncy and awake! You can mix it with just water or equal parts water and apple cider vinegar for an extra kick! I know it’s classic, but I usually cut up a cucumber and rest two slices on my eyes while I wait for the mask to dry for extra relaxation points.
Castor Oil - I use this as a makeup remover and hair-growth serum! I dab a cotton Q-tip in it, and gently remove my eye makeup in soft, upward strokes. (Be super careful when you take off your makeup around your eyes. That skin is SO fragile!) Then, I run the rest of the oil on the Q-tip on the eyelash line on my eyelid to help my lashes grow thick! This stuff gets rid of all make-up residue and conditions and stimulates your cuticles at the same time. Castor oil has so many health benefits - it’s not only good for face and hair, it also promotes collagen and elastin production so you can use it on your skin to help with cellulite and stretch marks! WIN-WIN.
Glossier Facial Cleanser: Milk Jelly Cleanser - This is on my christmas list this year (*cough cough* nick…) I LOVE glossier and want to try more of their products. I haven’t completely fallen in love with any cleansers I’ve tried yet, so I am still on the hunt! This has such great reviews and looks super mess-free and easy and to use!
UPDATE: I have been using this cleanser for about a month and I am LOVING IT! you can use it on your eye makeup too which I love, it has contact solution in it!
Acure Radically Rejuvenating Facial Toner - This toner is great for balancing facial pH after using soaps and cleansers… and it is also helps refresh the skin before moisturizer is applied. It also contains witch hazel which is an anti-oxidant! It provides blemish fighting and anti-inflammatory power and leaves your skin feeling extra clear. I love it because it’s not too sticky!
Illuminating Rose Gold Facial Serum - This one is infused with hydrating Aloe and Hyaluronic Acid! I mentioned this one on our What We Said Podcast blog post of our favorite things, but this is the BEST facial oil especially for people with combination skin like me. It isn’t too oily and leaves my skin feeling fresh and plump. It gives you a very subtle glow and adds a natural highlight. It smells wonderful and I follow it up with a drop of sunscreen for days when I want to have a “make-up free” day!
Osea Essential Corrective Complex -This anti-fungal blend has been the spot treatment that has helped my breakouts the MOST. I usually break out on my temples or forehead and I roll this oil on there at night and it reduces the irritation and redness overnight. When you put it on, you can feel the very subtle minty sensation on your skin that I love because I know it’s working!
OSEA Advanced Atmosphere Protection Moisturizer - I LOVE this brand. It is a vegan and cruelty free skin care line. This specific moisturizer is my ultimate favorite. It’s great for combo skin like mine. I usually use this at night on my chest, neck, and face. It smells like my favorite place (the beach) and my skin drinks it right up. This one is ESPECIALLY great for winter months and for those in windy, dry, or polluted areas! (If you have OILY or blemish-prone skin, they have the perfect moisturizer for you, too! Their Blemish Balm is the perfect lightweight cream with tea tree oil and Rosemary to keep you clear!)
Mad Hippie Facial SPF 30 - The best Sunscreen. It’s chemical-free and it doesn’t leave a white residue on your face. I put this on top of my rose gold serum for that natural, happy skin! Sunscreen is so important to protecting our face against everyday sun exposure. I have a lot of sun damage from my life-guarding teenage years so now I protect my skin from the AZ sun at all costs!! (This Invisible Shield facial sunscreen from Glossier is also on my Christmas list this year! I want one in my purse and one in my bathroom. You can never have too much sun protection!)
